Central Florida Black Nurses Association held our 3rd Annual Health Fair in collaboration with the Orlando Housing Authority on Tuesday July 12, 2016. The health fair was held at 325 Hillside Ave., Hampton Villas behind the main office of the Orlando Housing Authority. The health fair targeted the OHA residents and the surrounding community. Health screening was performed including - blood pressures, blood glucose, BMI and health counseling. Several nurse practitioners were on site to discuss any out of range readings. Herzing University Nursing students provided the health screenings. About 50 residents attended. We had vendors from - The National Kidney Foundation, Lupus Foundation, Sisters Network, VITAS, Orange County Disaster Preparedness, Guardian Care Nursing and Rehab Center, Alzheimer's Association, Desired Chiropractor, Primary Care Access Network, and two fitness gurus - Hortencia Owens and Francine Kelly.
A special thanks to Pollo Tropical for providing a delicious, healthy lunch for all participants.
On Saturday July 16, 2016 from 12-3 pm, two Central Florida Black Nurses performed health screening for residents of DISMAS Charities in northwest Orlando. Several clients had hypertension with no insurance and were referred to Primary Care Access Network for their assistance.
