SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES
During the past 40 years, Central Florida Black Nurses Association of Orlando, Inc (CFBNA) has provided scholarships to assist individuals pursing a nursing career. The scholarships are presented at the Annual Scholarship and Awards Luncheon each September.
SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a member of CFBNA
- Be a resident of Orange, Seminole, Lake or Osceola County.
- Accepted or currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program (A.D., B.S.N., Diploma or L.V.N./L.P.N, Masters & Doctoral)
- Have a cumulative 2.5 GPA or above
- Have a significant financial need.
- Show evidence of active participation and/or involvement in community activities.
APPLICATION PERIOD: April 1st – June 30th of each year
Applications sent via US mail must be postmarked by June 30.
Emailed applications must be received by 11:59pm on June 30.

Applicant must provide:
- A fully completed scholarship application
- Official transcript from an accredited school of Nursing (mailed to CFBNA & received by June 30th)
- Two (2) letters of recommendation (work supervisor, professor, minister, community leader)
- Evidence of participation and/or involvement in community service activities
- Essay: One (1) typed page max which may include your student nurse activities/projects; your ideas on improving the health status of African Americans, and your long/short term nursing goals.
- A professional 3×5 color head shot.
Additional requirement:
- Upon notification, personally appear for an interview on July 15, 2024
- Attend the scholarship and awards luncheon on Saturday, September 30,2024 (if selected as a recipient)
- If selected for a scholarship, recipient must submit a thank you letter to cfbnaoforando@gmail.com prior to receiving your check
- Sign a pledge to actively participate in CFBNA activities within 6 months of graduation

COMPLETED APPLICATION MUST INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING
- An official transcript from an accredited nursing school.
- Completed scholarship application form.
- Provide 2 names, addresses, and telephone numbers of your supervisor at work, professor, clergy, or community leader, as a character reference.
- Complete application ONLINE and mail transcripts to – Central Florida Black Nurses Association, P.O. Box 585142, Orlando, Florida 32858.
SELECTION PROCESS
Provided that completed application, transcripts and references are received by the deadline date, the applicants chosen:
- Must conduct a personal and professional interview with the CFBNA Scholarship Committee, time and place TBA
- Must be a member of CFBNA
- Must be present at the CFBNA Scholarship Banquet
